A FLAMES calculator brings the classic FLAMES name game from paper and pencil into a clear browser experience. You enter two names, matching letters are crossed out one pair at a time, and the total number of letters left is used to count through F, L, A, M, E, and S. The final letter becomes the game result.
LoveMatch Play follows the traditional counting pattern consistently, so the same pair of names always produces the same answer. The six possible results are Friends, Lovers, Affection, Marriage, Enemies, and Siblings. Each label belongs to the classic game and is presented for fun and entertainment, not as a statement about a real relationship.
Transparent counting
Enter two names and the FLAMES game calculator compares their letters using the traditional method. Common characters are removed one matching pair at a time, the letters left in both names are counted, and that count is used to eliminate FLAMES letters until one relationship label remains. The process follows the same rules every time; it is a name game, not a scientific compatibility algorithm.
Capitalization and spacing are normalized. Hyphens and apostrophes remain valid for display but are removed from the letter sequence.
Each common character cancels one matching character in the other name. Repeated letters are never collapsed into a simple set.
The remaining letters from both names are added together. If all letters cancel, a stable full-cycle count of six is used.
The count moves around the available FLAMES letters. After one is removed, counting continues from the next available letter.
Six playful outcomes
Each letter leads to a familiar category from the traditional love FLAMES calculator. The meanings below explain the tone of the game, not a person’s feelings or the future of a relationship.
A friendly, easygoing result that celebrates companionship in the spirit of the game.
The playful love category, suggesting a romantic theme without predicting real feelings.
A warm result associated with fondness, care, and a lighthearted sense of closeness.
A traditional FLAMES label for fun, not a promise, proposal, or forecast of marriage.
A dramatic game outcome that should never be treated as evidence of conflict or dislike.
A playful family-like label suggesting familiarity, not an actual family relationship.
Why the details matter
Repeated letters matter because FLAMES removes characters one pair at a time. For example, if the first name has three A letters and the second has one, one A from each name is removed and two A letters stay in the final count. A simple unique-letter comparison would produce the wrong traditional result.
Name order does not change the final count. The calculator also uses Unicode-aware letter handling, so accented and non-English names can participate without being reduced to English-only characters. Different spellings can still produce different outcomes because this is a letter game.
Names and results may remain temporarily in memory while this tab stays open, including when you move between tools. They are cleared by a refresh or when the tab closes and are not written into the page address, browser storage, cookies, or an external calculation service. A downloaded card is created locally only after you choose Download Result.
FLAMES cannot predict real relationships, measure compatibility, or identify another person’s feelings. Its categories come from a nostalgic name game rather than scientific relationship research.
The calculator is designed for entertainment and follows the traditional rules consistently. Use the result as a fun conversation starter, not as a verdict about love, friendship, or the future.
Good to know
A FLAMES calculator is a browser version of the classic name-matching game. It compares two names, removes common letters one pair at a time, and uses the remaining count to select a playful relationship label. The result can be Friends, Lovers, Affection, Marriage, Enemies, or Siblings, and it is intended only for fun and entertainment.
The game prepares both names, removes matching characters one pair at a time, and adds the letters that remain. That total becomes the count used to move around F-L-A-M-E-S. After each round, one letter is removed and counting continues from the next available letter until a single relationship category remains. The process follows the same traditional rules every time.
The letters traditionally stand for Friends, Lovers or Love, Affection, Marriage, Enemies, and Siblings. LoveMatch Play displays the L category as Lovers while preserving the familiar meaning of the name game. These labels are playful outcomes rather than factual descriptions. For example, Marriage does not predict marriage, and Enemies does not mean two people are actually incompatible.
No. FLAMES cannot predict true love, identify another person’s feelings, or tell you whether a relationship will succeed. It is a traditional paper-and-pencil game recreated for entertainment. Real relationships depend on communication, respect, boundaries, mutual interest, and shared experiences, so enjoy the result as a light conversation starter rather than advice or evidence.
Yes. The FLAMES calculator is free to use and does not require an account or subscription. You can enter two supported names, view the common-letter removal process, see the elimination sequence, and generate a result. You may also calculate again, download a result card, or use the available sharing actions when you choose.
Yes. You can play FLAMES with a crush, partner, friend, classmate, or any other pair of names that meets the input rules. Different spellings and nicknames may create different counts because the game works with letters. Keep the activity respectful, especially when sharing a result, because the category does not reveal anyone’s feelings or define a real relationship.
No. Swapping the two people produces the same remaining-letter count, elimination sequence, and final category. Capitalization, leading or trailing spaces, and repeated spaces are normalized before calculation as well. Repeated letters still matter and are removed only one matching pair at a time, so changing the spelling or using a different nickname can produce another result.
